MERIDIAN INTERNATIONAL HOLDING APPOINT CBRE CAMBODIA AS SOLE AGENT FOR THE AWARD WINNING "FLATIRON BY MERIDIAN" 

Meridian International Holding had signed an agreement with CBRE Cambodia last month as sole agent in the kingdom for Flatiron by Meridiansale & leasing segment.

The agreement was signed in a ceremony presided over by Mr. Gene Gong, COO of Meridian International Holding and by Mr. James Hodge, Managing Director of CBRE Cambodia. 

‘Flatiron by Meridian’ is Meridian International Holding’s latest major real estate development in Phnom Penh. This award winning project occupies land measuring 3,200sqm and extends to 41 storeys. The property incorporates retail spaces and 300 strata-title office units, as well as a 13 floors of units operated as a Citadines Apart’Hotel Branded Serviced Residence managed by The Ascott Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of CapitaLand, who pioneered Asia Pacific’s first international-class serviced residence.

TOKYO OLYMPIC GAMES 2020: CAMBODIAN SWIMMERS BREAK THEIR FORMER RECORDS IN QUALIFYING 

Two Cambodian swimmers have achieved better performance at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 in Japan.

According to the Royal Cambodian Embassy in Japan, during the qualifying round, Kheun Bunpich Morokot got into 3rd place in Women’s 50m Freestyle – Heat 3 with 29.42 seconds, which break her former record of 29.99 seconds.

SINGAPORE SHARES "SMART CITY" EXPERIENCE   

An inter-ministerial team is currently studying the smart city management model from Singapore and will soon adopt the system to fit the Cambodian social context.

In the meantime, Cambodia government has also already drafted plans to transform several key cities into smart cities, aiming at establishing an inclusive ASEAN smart cities network.

The plan was released during an online “Planning for Smart Cities” conference held on 12 July.

AEON MALL 1 EXPANSION TO UPSCALE AND UPSIZE CAPACITY

Aeon Mall 1 on Samdech Sothearos will expand its ground floor to host at least 30 more commercial stores, according to the firm’s press release.

The expansion work will increase the ground floor space to 27,000 square metres area which will bring the ground floor space to a total of 162,000 square metres.

To attract more prominent specialty stores, The company has decided to renew Aeon mall building by extending floor in order to meet market demand, and develop the amenities in the existing building into the latest facilities which will further transform into an urban luxury mall.

H&M UNVEILS PLAN TO OPEN FIRST STORE IN CAMBODIA 2022

The Swedish multinational clothing retail company H&M plans to open its first store in Cambodia next year, according to a recent article release by the source.

H&M has not disclosed the specific date and location of its first store. The opening will be part of the fashion giant’s business expansion in the region, at a time when world economies are starting to emerge from Covid-19 crisis mode with accelerating coronavirus vaccine rollouts.

H&M CEO Helena Helmersson said, “With our much-appreciated collections, our ongoing transformation and the fact that markets are gradually being opened up, our recovery is strong”. 

AMCHAM PANEL HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF BUILDING CONFIDENCE IN YOUNG WOMEN TO TAKE UP LEADERSHIP ROLES IN CAMBODIA'S BUSINESS COMMUNITY

The American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia’s (AmCham) hosted a panel discussion to highlight the benefits of female leadership and how to encourage more young women to take leadership opportunities in Cambodia’s business community.

The four panelists were Sophia Altamirano from Raffles Cambodia, Priti Rahul Jitani from VE Healthcare Group, Kathryn O’Connell and moderator Kim Tol Tan. The event topic is “AmCham Women’s Leadership in Critical Times’’.
