Singaporean food delivery giant Foodpanda has announced its expansion into Kampong Speu province. This marks the 11th Cambodian province in which the company has a presence.
Food delivery apps have seen a boom in sales since Feb last year due to community outbreak of Covid-19 and the ensuing lockdown that followed, with major delivery companies stating that sales had doubled during the period.
Having food delivered has been heavily promoted as a way to help curtail the spread of the pandemic throughout the country by helping people to avoid unnecessary travelling, as well as reducing human contacts via cashless payment systems.
The company first enter Cambodian market in 2019. It had launched in Phnom Penh before expanding it to Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampong Cham, Kampot, Kampong Thom, Kampong Som, Poipet, Banteay Meanchey, Pursat province, and now Kampong Speu province.
The Company been actively in charity by donating disinfectant alcohol, masks and water to Kampong Speu Provincial Hall. For new customers in the province, Food Panda will be offering 50 percent discounts for orders above USD 3.
With the increase of food and grocery delivery demand, the company spokesperson said foodpanda will be expanding its footprint to more cities and grow its “foodpanda shops” vertically by working with more partners to offer additional daily essentials and groceries on its platform.
